Bags: The manufacturer had made almost a perfect representation of this tea, putting a tea bag into a paper sachet. If they could use foil instead of paper, that would be a spot on job.

Additional notes: I could not award this tea with any awards, regardless it received the Great Taste Award in 2020. It simply did not stand out to me because there was nothing remarkable about its taste apart from its aroma, where I found an unusual earthy smell.

Also, this tea was tasted at the University of Liverpool as a single tea bag, which is why I could not get a full description of this tea.

Description-wise wise I can agree with the manufacturer that it was a strong breakfast tea, bursting with full of flavour, but not delicious.

Additionally, I cannot agree with the manufacturer; it was neither bright nor brilliant tea.

Manufacturer's advice: Sterilise your tea cup with 100˚C water. Put 10g of tea in the teapot and add 100ml–150ml of hot water, and leave it to infuse for 5 minutes. Enjoy tea with a dendrobium or plasant** flavour.

Additional notes: I used 2 grams of loose tea and 200 millilitres of hot water. I followed the traditional tea manufacturer’s standards, which were meant for 1 person.

This tea surprised me with its quality, where I enjoyed the vivid sourness and floral flavours. Unfortunately, I could not find the pineapple presence.

I used the Samsung translator to translate the description of the tea. It suggested that it is written in the Vietnamese language, and the translation was absolutely terrible. In most cases, I had to conclude what the Samsung translator meant to say.

Additionally, I attempted to replicate the exact name of the tea. Please accept my apologies if Microsoft Word was unable to provide me with the correct signs.

Unfortunately, we could not find when the tea received the award of the Gold Medal for Community Health.

*The aroma of cookies was probably because of the open package for a long time.

**Samsung translator translated at 1 point Dendrobium, but later pleasant flavour. As I could not find among the tea ingredients anything of Dendrobium, I assume the correct version is pleasant flavour.

Additional notes: The tea does not include hormones and harmful chemicals, and does not bring poisonous and side-effects. It helps release toxins. The last sentence is description from a discributor.

Recommended by a distributor - use 1 bag for 1 Liter of hot water and brew it for a minute. It is possible to use 1 bag 3 times. The second time infuse the tea for 10 minutes in a hot water, but for the third time hold the bag as long as you can in a litre of hot water.

Also, the tea bag was in pyramidal shape reaching Loyd’s tea quality standard. Evey bag has a string with a tag at the end.

On the black sachet we can beautifully blooming jasmine bush.

When the tea bag was taken out of the sachet it smelled beautifully of Jasmine.

I could not detect the weight of the water as I did not have scales with me.

I am just wondering whether this te would much with milk as it is as bitter as black tea.

Interestingly, the manufacturer has recommended using half a teaspoon per bowel instead of giving exact grams. I point this out because there are different sizes of teaspoons.

Also, it can be drunk with milk and honey, as my goddaughter introduced me to the way she drinks tea.

I followed the manufacturer’s instructions and did not enjoy this tea. I would go for traditional tea leaves as they seemed to be much more enjoyable.

This was the first time that I had an external judge panel formed by two members. They rated this tea with 2 marks out of 5.

Manufacturer's description: The tea garden is located between 1.9 and 2.5 km above sea level, where a forest covers over 80% of the land. Annual rainfall is over 1900 mm, annual temperature is about 13˚. There is unique volcanic ash soil which is very fertile, soil organic matter content is high.

The product adopts green heart Oolong (soft branch) tea tree fresh leaf as raw material. Through advanced tea making process and according to organic production management refined.  

Manufacturer's advice: Boil water to 90˚ - 95˚ and use 10g for each pot. I bag is possible to use it between 6 and 8 times.

Bags 5/5: These are 5 10g bags in beautifully light green colour, where tea has been kept in a vacuum.  Tea bags contain information. On one side of tea bags, specific places that indicate where to open them.

Additional notes: Make it in a big teapot, I suppose. I have never smelt green tea like this. That smell even on its own makes you addicted to this tea. It is the most tasty green tea I have tried so far making me conclude that this manufacturer is excellent at making green tea. Interestingly that tea has been kept in a clear bag that has been put in a decorative green bag along with material that keeps the bag dry.

 Also, the manufacturer states that 1 tea bag (10g) can be used between 6 and 8 times. Here I think the manufacturer meant tea cups or persons, which is correct. I used around 1.5L big teapot and it could last at least 6 for times depending how big are tea cups.

Additional notes: I tried this tea without milk. When I tasted this tea, it reminded me of medication. It did not bring me any joy, making me conclude that people must adore black tea if they like to drink on a daily basis. 

I can agree that tea was full-bodied and flavourful, but whether it was refreshing, I doubt. It tasted more like ‘I won’t drink it anymore’ brew. 

Overall, it was a traditional black tea where nothing was remarkable, apart from a great attempt to promote as the greatest tea.

This tea was tried in London at Euro Hotel Hammersmith. The price has been obtained from Tesco Extra to let you know the estimated price. 

As I took the pricing from a shop I was not able to find out what the tea bags look like.

 Just to bear in mind, if you want to enjoy the same quality black tea nd probably with a better taste, then do not rush to buy this excessively promoted tea brand. Go for non-branded black teas and you will get the same quality or even better taste.

Additional notes: This is my first powder tea that joins the Tea House collection. After opening a sachet the powder smelled nice – gently sweet. There was no need to infuse the tea as it is powdered tea. Also, I concluded as there is used black tea powder then it is not caffeine-free tea.

After I read the list of the ingredients, it made me terrified of how many different chemicals have been used by the manufacturer to create this tea.

When I tasted this tea hot, then it related me to a cocoa drink. It is very likely would not say that is tea, but I would relate it to cocoa. Also, it seemed too sweet for me. So I would recommend increasing the dose of hot water between 170ml and 200ml.

When it is served cold, it must be served in a clear glass for a better presentation. I added peppermint leaves as it was shown on the package.

It looked too sweet when I tasted it cold, but ice cubes added charm and pleasure to the tea.

Interestingly when I added peppermint leaves to the tea, the taste became much more enjoyable.

If this ingredient would be added additionally by the manufacturer, I would give it the award – The Tastiest Tea of the Month.

My conclusion finally is that I would not recognise this as tea. It seems there is nothing natural, but powder.

Smell 5/5:  It smells roasted reminding me of roasted nuts or seeds. It is the most original smell I have felt.  

Flavour 3/5: Tastes roasted, very light, lovely. It would be a great drink on its own, just to enjoy. However, for me, it was not as exciting as I expected. I wished the flavour could be much stronger and vivid.

Manufacturer's description: This is the aroma from the foot of Mt Fujo. Shizuoka Genmai-Cha is made of deeply steamed tea leaves from Shizuoka where Mt. Fuji stands, with Japanese Brown rice and Matcha Green Tea powder.

Bags 5/5: The manufacturer has excellence in understanding how to pack tea bags. Every tea bag has been put in a special foil sachet, representing the manufacturer in English on one side and partly different language on the other. Sachets are white from the outside with green and blueprints on them. The bags have a little strap with a tag that represents the manufacturer and its symbol in blueprints. Here we understand why we pay such much for so little quantity of the bags.

Package 3/5: It looks like a simple box with a beautiful mountain view and a white cap with vividly green tea in it.

Additional notes: It is 100% brown rice tea with Matcha Powder. The manufacturer has used roasted rice. The tea leaves provider is Masuuda-en Tea Farm, Shizuoka, Japan.

Unfortunately, Tea House, could not award this tea for the best flavour of the month, because it needed to be richer and stronger.

Infused (Without milk): 5 minutes

Flavour (Without milk) 4/5: Bitter with pleasant cinnamon flavour. It leaves long-lasting bitterness and dryness in the aftertaste. Also, this tea leaves long-lasting ginger spiciness in the aftertaste.

Tasted with milk (ml) and brown sugar: 200 hot milk/1 bag/1g brown sugar

Smell (with milk and sugar) 3/5: It was very weak, tender clove, and gentle. It reminded me of black tea with milk.

Flavour (with milk and sugar) 4/5: Pleasant milky sweet with gentle clove aftertaste. It leaves a long lasting dryness in the mouth and black mild ginger spiciness.

Additional notes: When I opened the sachet, I was greeted by a pleasant clove aroma, which reminded me of Christmas. 

If tea is served with milk it is not very spiced as the manufacturer might give an impression. The tea is milder, gentler and sweeter even without sugar.

I found it enjoyable that there is no need to add sugar if tea is presented with milk as it is already gently sweet. 

The tea bag was boiled in milk for 5 minutes. 

It was one of the most enjoyable black teas I have ever tried without milk.

Smell 5/5:  Sweet like flowers, maybe like honey

Flavour 4/5: Weak with light sourness, which seems pleasant. I can feel a tender bitterness.

Package 5/5:  A tea bag has been put into an airtight metal box which is beige with a dark brown lid on it. The surface of the metal box contains information about the tea.

Manufacturer: It was not clear who is the manufacturer.

Additional notes: The smell is absolutely amazing and so much enjoyable, but the flavour is pretty watery.

The package did not contain much reasonable information to mention about.

The word changmou made me pay more attention and I found online this – Chanoyu (I assume this is the correct definition) means hot water for tea - One of its oldest names in the Japanese language. This is the term preferred by many chajin (tea person/practitioner). This word has more artistic and aesthetic connotations.

Chanoyu is the expression of performance art, it is meditation in motion, it is hospitality, it is aesthetic philosophy, it is a spiritual connection between guest and host, etc. This multifaceted nature is part of Chanoyu’s beauty and a key factor in its longevity and popularity. Of all of the countless cultural phenomena that have sprung around tea since its discovery, from the Song dynasty tea competitions, and the lavish chayorai tea parties of 14th century Japan, none have survived and thrived in the way that Chanoyu has.

Smell 4/5:  I can smell strong peppermint after opening a sachet. Strong peppermint with light liquorice when a tea bag is infused in water

Flavour 5/5: Fresh peppermint with liquorice undertones. There was another unreconcilable flavour. I suggest that it might be eucalyptus. It leaves a wonderful long long-lasting breath in aftertaste.

Bags 4/5: Almost excellent in packaging tea bags if they would use foil sachets then it would reduce the possibility of being accidentally wettened and damaged. Tea bags have a string and a red tag at the end. Beautifully represented tea bags.

Additional notes: This tea is wonderful indeed. I loved the peppermint and liquorice blend of flavours.

I found an inexperienced ingredient – orange and peppermint oil.

Also, a new thing was a word – Ayurvedic. It made me search online for an explanation.  Ayurvedic medicine is a system of traditional medicine native to India, which uses a range of treatments, including panchakarma, yoga, massage, acupuncture and herbal medicine, to encourage health and well-being.

Additionally, I noticed that the manufacturer has recommended brewing it at least for 6 minutes, which seems unusual as normal brewing time is 3 – 5 minutes at least.

Interestingly the manufacturer does not warn about liquorice presence in the tea. People suffering from hypertension should avoid excessive consumption because it contains liquorice.

Besides there are only 17 bags which made me wonder why is that and the weight is 32.2g.

I learned that the manufacturer has used paper that is glossy from the inside to make sachets. It makes me conclude that this is a pretty good attempt to protect tea from a wet environment because it is a thicker and stronger material.  Though, it is hard to say whether it is equal quality of the foil.
