Summer vibes
Unlike iced tea, cold-brew tea, as the name suggests, is made using cold water. They suggest that it gives a smoother and sweeter flavour, with none of the bitterness that can result from brewing tea with boiling water and then allowing it to cool down.
For example, if you are still a chai and matcha lover, then make cold chai by adding tea bags to add warmth and spice, or use your most loved matcha tea bags for an earlier taste.
Icy and fricy (fruit and spicy) tea - steep a turmeric herbal tea overnight with fresh mango, or a ginger infusion with pineapple.
Try a mocktail by steeping cold-brew black tea bags overnight with fresh raspberries and muddled basil, then strain and top with soda or sparkling water.
Though if you do not like black tea, have a go with a strawberry herbal infusion with the basil. Serve over ice cubes and garnish with extra berries and herbs.
Here goes a recipe for a cold-brew tea:
1) Use any tea you like. It can be black, green, white, or herbal infusion and brew 1 tea bag per 200 ml of cold water, or room-temperature water.
2) Steep for 8 - 24 hours, depending on how strong you want your tea.
3) If using loose leaves, strain into another jug or a cup, add slices of lemon, orange or sprigs of fresh mint and thyme. Stir in a bit of honey, sugar, maple or agave syrup if you like your tea sweetened.
