Riga's History & Navigation museum

Riga's History & Navigation Museum

 Location: Riga, Latvia, Europe

The museum is located next to Riga Dom Cathedral. It is an interesting fact that this venue is the very first building in Riga that is dedicated to museum purposes.

In Riga's History and Navigation museum, It is possible to learn how Riga developed from small villages between the 12th and 13th centuries. Also, it will be impressive to see different sorts of ship models that have entered the harbour of Riga.

There you will find the Column Hall, the most stunning museum room on these premises.  It is on two floors, where from the upper floor balcony is possible to view The Column Hall. The Column Hall originally has been built in 1778 in the Classism style and there was a  library until 1891.

The quite bizarre fact is that everybody has been asked to start exploring the museum from the third floor and then come down to the ground floor. Though it does not matter.

 Verdict:

Price: 5/5: It will cost you €5 per person. It is located on three floors with so much to learn and see.

Comfort 3/5: It has no lift so that might cause difficulty to move up and down. If you come with a baby, make sure you have a baby carrier.

Staff kindness 5/5: You will be greeted by kind staff members. At the entrance, they will explain what is possible to see.

Location 5/5: It is located in Old Riga, 4 Palasta Street.
